How to Keep Your Pool Enclosure in Perfect Condition.
Pool enclosures offer owners numerous benefits, such as extending the swimming season, protecting against adverse weather conditions, and cutting water treatment costs. However, to enjoy these benefits to the fullest, regular care and maintenance of the enclosure is essential. Proper maintenance ensures a long lifespan, trouble-free operation, and an impeccable aesthetic appearance. Here is your comprehensive care guide:
1. Cleaning
- Never use a high-pressure washer ("pressure washer") on the enclosure; use only a gentle stream of water, such as from a garden hose.
- Continuously keep the ground tracks clean from debris (using a stream of water or a soft brush) to prevent damage to the track wheels during movement.
- In winter, when snow accumulates on the roof, regularly remove the top layers of snow. Never move segments when snow or ice is frozen onto the enclosure, as this could tear sealing rubbers or crack the panels.
- Under no circumstances should sharp tools or scrapers be used! Clean exclusively with clear water or a mild soapy solution using a clean sponge or soft cloth.
- Do not use cleaning agents containing aggressive solvents (such as petrol, acetone, alcohol/spirits, etc.).
- Sunscreens, suntan lotions, and oils must not come into contact with the polycarbonate glazing, as they can cause irreversible chemical degradation.
2. Handling and Operation
- Before moving the enclosure, always ensure that the entire length of the tracks is completely clear of foreign objects (twigs, pebbles, leaves, etc.). If present, remove them first.
- Moving individual enclosure segments should always be carried out by 2 people. Each person grips the segment on one side at the designated handle positions.
- Do not forget to lock and secure each segment in place after completing the movement.
- Before sliding segments – especially if they have not been moved for an extended period – we recommend gently rinsing the polycarbonate sheets with water. This minimizes the risk of scratching, as the rubber seals press against the glazing while sliding.
- During strong winds, double-check that all track locks are fully engaged and that the end walls are secured with all locking pins! Ensure all doors and ventilation openings (hinged doors, flaps, windows, sliding doors) are securely closed and locked!
3. Maintenance
- Individual locking mechanisms and door hinges must be lubricated with silicone oil twice a year. Be very careful not to let oil touch the polycarbonate sheets!
- Maintain the pool water chlorine level between 0.4 and 1.0 mg/l and pH between 7.2 and 7.6. Excessive chemical concentrations can cause oxidation of stainless steel and aluminium components.
- In case of unexpected damage from extreme weather events or vandalism, we strongly recommend including your enclosure in your home insurance policy!
Regular maintenance of your pool enclosure is crucial for longevity and flawless functionality. Following these simple tips will keep your enclosure in prime condition and ensure you enjoy comfortable swimming year after year.
